Welcome to the Rainier View Elementary Library

Welcome to Rainier View Elementary Library, where our goal is to have every student become life long readers and effective users and producers of ideas and information.

We have many wonderful books to enjoy in our library. All students will have the opportunity to checkout books on a regular basis. Families are welcome too!!

  • Kindergarteners  check out a book to their classrooms.
  • First Graders begin with one book at their level  each week.
  • Second Fourth Grade begin with two books weekly.
  • Fifth Graders may check out up to three books each week.

But remember, you must return your books before you check out new ones !! We will send out monthly reminders for those who need to return or pay for missing books.

4th and 5th Grade- Global Reading Challenge

Every winter our 4th and 5th graders  participate in the Seattle Global Reading Challenge. Beginning in December, we  read a  group of 10 books, which are  chosen by the Seattle Public Library. We read, discuss and re-read these books. We select students to create teams who challenge each other in determining our school champion. Our in school challenge usually happens in February.

Our winning team  go on to represent Rainier View at the Central Library in one of the semi final rounds in March. We will post more details as they become available.
